Experience as a strength: in good hands with senior therapists

In difficult phases of life, many people are not only looking for professional expertise, but also a feeling of security, calm and trust. This is exactly what senior therapists can provide: Their many years of experience make them reliable companions on the therapeutic path.

What distinguishes senior therapists?

Experienced therapists have a deep understanding of a wide variety of life stories and psychological challenges. This broad knowledge enables them to categorize even complex situations quickly and precisely. Thanks to their composure and clarity, they remain calm even in stressful moments and can give their patients guidance. Through many years of practice, many senior therapists have become familiar with various therapeutic approaches and apply them flexibly in order to respond to their clients' individual needs. With their trained eye, they also often recognize connections and dynamics that remain hidden to less experienced people.

Quality and safety

All senior therapists are officially registered with the Federal Ministry of Health and therefore meet the legally prescribed quality standards. In addition, they regularly take part in further and advanced training, which ensures that their knowledge is not only based on years of experience, but also on the latest scientific findings.

This offers numerous advantages for patients: Trust grows through the certainty that the therapist has already accompanied many similar situations. Senior therapists also know that there is no one right method - they design the therapeutic process flexibly and individually. Thanks to their many years of experience, they also have a feel for the right time and the right depth in the therapeutic process. This creates a long-term perspective: they know that healing and change take time and accompany this path with patience, consistency and reliability.

In many practices, therapists with different levels of training work together. While therapists in training often bring new impulses and fresh perspectives, senior therapists offer stability and orientation through their experience. This combination is a great asset - it creates a lively balance between innovation and experience and gives patients the freedom to choose which therapeutic support is more appropriate at any given moment.

In safe hands: Junior therapist therapy with therapists in training under supervision

When you read for the first time that a psychotherapist is „in training under supervision“, this often raises questions: Does this mean that this person is not yet „finished“? Is the therapy then less effective or even unsafe? The answer is a clear no. On the contrary - patients benefit in many ways from this special training phase.

What does „in training under supervision“ mean?

In Austria, training to become a psychotherapist takes many years and includes both theoretical and practical parts. Once the theoretical basis has been completed, the phase of practical work with patients begins, which takes place „under supervision“. This means that the therapists carry out their therapies independently, but are regularly supervised by experienced teaching therapists. This supervision is used for quality assurance, reflection and further development.

Quality and safety

This model offers patients a high degree of security: each treatment is additionally supported by the perspective of an experienced specialist. This ensures that the therapeutic work is not only carried out carefully, but also according to high professional standards.

What advantages do patients have?

Patients benefit from twofold support: they work directly with their therapist and at the same time receive professional support from experienced supervisors. Training candidates contribute up-to-date theoretical knowledge and modern therapeutic methods, as they are familiar with the latest developments in psychotherapy.

During this training phase, many therapists are particularly committed, attentive and motivated to help their patients in the best possible way. Through regular supervision, the treatment processes are carefully reflected upon and further developed. This results in individual and thorough care that benefits patients and ensures high professional quality.

Frequent concerns

Some people wonder whether working with a therapist in training means taking a risk. In fact, it's quite the opposite: patients receive carefully supervised therapy. The only important thing is that they feel comfortable and can develop trust, because the relationship between patient and therapist remains at the heart of all psychotherapeutic work.
