Portrait of Ellena Schawerda, psychotherapist in training under teaching supervision at Die Wiener Praxis in Vienna.

Ellena Schawerda, BA. pth.

Ellena Schawerda, BA pth, is a psychotherapist in training under supervision and is completing her specialization in psychoanalysis at the Psychoanalytic Seminar Innsbruck (PSI). Her therapeutic work is based on a mindful, attentive attitude and the conviction that personal development is possible when inner processes are understood, allowed and brought into relationship.

Her professional experience combines clinical, institutional and organizational knowledge with a sound theoretical education: After an initial career in the natural sciences, she made a conscious decision to pursue psychotherapy and began her studies in psychotherapy science at the Sigmund Freud Private University in Vienna, where she was also the coordinator of the psychotherapeutic outpatient clinic for several years. She gained her practical experience at the social psychiatric ward of the Donaustadt Clinic, at the outpatient clinic of the University of Vienna and at Intakt, a center for people with eating disorders. In her work as a psychotherapist, she works with adults, children and adolescents from the age of 11 in individual settings.

A particular concern of hers is a psychodynamic understanding of mental suffering that creates space for individual life stories and relationship experiences - beyond pathologization or supposedly quick solutions. Her approach is characterized by respect, openness and the joy of lively, sincere contact.
